We have looked for money and a better life for over 50 years. Now, we are leaving everything for our children, not even sure if they will appreciate it So, we are learning Persian to enjoy the Persian literature (mainly, poems of Rumi) to relieve our mind and to get peace.
I hope you can have comfort for some time while you are traveling among these pages I will do my best to expand it gradually. However, the sound files will help you keep track of the words line by line. No one can explain such a beauty unless you experience it yourself. Article Oct 2019 Kayvan Tahmasebian Rebecca Ruth Gould Our translations represent the first time Hasan Alizadehs poems have been rendered into any foreign language. We have translated Alizadeh in the conviction that, when his literary output is made available in English, he will be recognized as a lyric poet comparable in stature to Guillaume Apollinaire, Arthur Rimbaud, Federico Garca Lorca, and Marina Tsvetaeva. The magma-like dream world that Alizadeh evokes, and the unpredictable juxtapositions of his poetics, together constitute the defining features of his voice within contemporary Iranian poetry. The poets formalist yet lyrical poetics posit poetry as an event that opens life onto the contingency of creaturely existence. In our effort to keep faith with the poems we have translated, our translations foreground the many historical and semantic contingencies that enrich Alizadehs poetics. Focusing on the poetic translations of Bijan Elahi (1945-2010), one of Irans most significant poet-translators, we demonstrate how untranslatability becomes a point of departure for his experimental poetics. Elahi used premodern Sufi hermeneutics to develop his modernist theory of translation, whereby the alien core of the text is recognised at the centre of the original. As he engages the translated text from many angles, Elahi confounds polarities between innovation and imitation, and authorship and translation, that continue to bifurcate translation studies. In contributing to the globalization of modernist studies, this work adds to our understanding of modernisms entanglement within premodern concepts of creation, as well as to modernisms recreation of tradition from a non-European periphery.
